Love & Haight is set in San Francisco in the 70's, the "hay day" for hippies and protesting just about anything. The main character is Chloe a 17 year old girl , her reason for being in San Francisco was to get an abortion. San Francisco and Mexico were the only places it was legal to get an abortion. Chloe goes to San Francisco with an open mind not knowing what will happen and is looking for an adventure. Throughout the book the main characters are Chloe, her best friend MJ, and her crazy aunt KiKi.
Overall, I would give Love & Haight a 3/5 stars. It was an interesting book, but just average. Susan Carlton did a fabulous job on using good diction and making you want to keep reading. I didn't enjoy the topic, but I felt like she did a good job describing it. The book lacked having much of a climax and you always knew what was coming.
